Lesson Agreement

Please note that by completing this form you are acknowledging the following:

• Pupils need to have an instrument (see Mrs. Bell or instrument teacher for help).
• Pupils must attend lessons on time with their music and instrument
• Pupils are required to practice between lessons (the amount will be set by the teacher)
• There may be some costs for purchasing music books. (Drumsticks, reeds, strings will need to be purchased)
• If unable to attend a lesson for any reason please let your teacher know by message or phone. You will be marked as present, excused or absent.
• To be excused is excusable but to be marked absent may incur the cost of the missed lesson.
• Pupils who wish to discontinue at the end of a term must let the music teacher know. If a student just stops showing up they will be liable to pay for missed lessons
• Pupils may be asked to stop learning if they have unpaid fees.
• Pupils must take good care of their instrument. There is a special storage room in the performing arts block for safe keeping.
• Pupils need to politely excuse themselves from class and need to be responsible for catching up any missed classroom work.
• The expectation is that lessons will continue for the whole year

Please note that even if your students learnt music last year at Chisnallwood, they should fill out a new form for 2018. These forms are at http://chisnallwoodmusic.org.nz/music-lessons-2

There are many instruments available for hire from the school (but not all). Payment for these goes to the payment office and instruments are only handed out after payment. Hire forms are obtained from Mrs. Bell or your itinerant teacher.

If hiring from a shop, please identify yourself as a Chisnallwood student so that the school gets some benefit. Hire places include CJs MusicWorks (569 Colombo St), KBB (Shop 1 / 1-5 Amyes Road, Hornby 0800 775 226) and Sedley Wells (Riccarton Road). Please contact Mrs Bell (music room) for more information and options about hiring or buying instruments.

Students are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to learn instruments from such well-qualified teachers at school and the intermediate years are excellent years to do this.

There is also the opportunity to take part in ensembles at school such as the orchestra, ukulele, recorder, percussion, rock, jazz, Irish and choir! Music Theory club runs after school on Fridays and computer music technology runs at lunchtimes and for Leisure Ed. Watch the notices for when these start or ask Mrs Bell.

If your child learnt last year and would like to continue, please still enrol again online for 2018

If your child would love to learn but it’s definitely not affordable, please indicate this on the form when you sign up so we have the opportunity to discuss the possibility of options with you.

If you are having trouble with the online form, please collect a paper form from the music office.

I hope you have a really enjoyable and rewarding musical year!
