NZ Ukulele Festival last weekend

Written by ChissyMusic

A few photos and video from the day in Auckland on Saturday with our Chissy Ukes.

We got time to squeeze in a visit to the Auckland Tower (including watching a sky jumper, visiting Santa and making decorations) and also headed to Aotea Square for lunch before attending the 10th anniversary NZ Ukulele Festival.

At the festival there were lots of ukulele stands to look at with tempting ranges of picks and straps…. Then we headed inside the arena and enjoyed a fantastic performance by the young Hawaiian ukulele sensations Honoka and Azita.

Mia and Princess paraded with the school banner before the massed music began with all 2500 ukulele players.

A highlight was when Six60 came out and performed their song “Special” with all of us.

It was lovely to see some of the uke players at the festival from Panguru who visited us at the start of year!!

The final song was a real highlight as we got to see Dylan performing his original rap for the first verse! (video below)

The picture of the map below shows where the uke groups came from to be in the festival.

We would still appreciate a few more donations for the trip. Please check out the Givealittle page:  https://givealittle.co.nz/project/chissyukegroup
