Term one is underway!

Chisnallwood Music – Term 1

Music Lessons

Enrol for Music Lessons here.

For those enrolled, lessons are underway and it’s exciting hearing all the music coming from the department! It’s great to see some students arriving early or staying after school to take advantage of practice spaces available for those taking lessons. We still have places and instruments available for violin, trombone, trumpet, clarinet, Scottish drums, beatboxing and more… and we will do our best to fit everyone in who registers for any instrument 🙂

Lesson timetables can be found at https://chisnallwoodmusic.org.nz/lesson-timetables/

Please let us know ahead of time if you are unable to make it to a lesson.

Music Groups

The music group timetable can be found at https://chisnallwoodmusic.org.nz/timetable/

Most of these are underway and it was great to see the jazz band had it’s first gig last weekend at Children’s Day!

Groups are orchestra, choir, jazz bands, rock bands, marimba, ukulele, Celtic/Irish band as well as Theory Club on Fridays after school.

Sound tech sign ups (as well as other group sign ups) are outside the music office. Those selected from the sound tech sign up list will be invited to train in the April holidays.

All groups have Google Classrooms where repertoire and notices are posted.

Auditions

If students are interested in auditioning for the Music Festival representative groups or High School music auditions, please let your music teacher know so we can help prepare you with the correct criteria.

Rock audition announcements will happen after African Drumming week and the first songwriting session will happen at that time too 🙂

School production audition signups are also now available! This will be staged in term 3.

The Hook Line and Singalong song competition closes on March 22, 2020 @ 8PM.

What are we up to this week?

This week we are enjoying having all the classes over doing music testing (which includes samples by our resident beat-boxer).

Next week we are looking forward to having all classes over to do African Drumming with Robert Koffie Fugah – always a highlight of the year for music classes!

NZSO ticket offer.

School-priced tickets are on offer for March 20th NZSO concert. Please see Mrs Bell by March 16th if interested (info is also on the orchestra Google Classroom).

Christchurch Symphony Orchestra

We are excited to have two Chisnallwood CSO ambassadors in our orchestra! Watch this space for further updates!
