The Chisnallwood Orchestra played two individual items as well as combining with 700 other players!

The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra hosted “The Big Play Out” on August 15th, just days before our sudden lockdown.

The day consisted of a massed rehearsal in the morning, individual orchestras showcasing in the afternoon, and the massed orchestra performance with the CSO in the evening. Meanwhile there as also a piano day being held in the Ron Ball Room.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our school orchestra to experience the fantastic acoustics of playing on the Town Hall Auditorium stage, and also to experience playing some impressive repertoire alongside 700 other players including the CSO players!

Out items were Saint Saëns Aquarium and Bréval Cello Sonata in C mvt 1.

The massed items were the Strauss’ Radetzky March, Mussorgsky’s Great Gates of Kiev from Pictures at an Exhibition, and the first movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 conducted by Pablo Ruiz Henao.
