Chisnallwood is taking part in the High School Orchestra Festival next week, including the Wednesday Sept 20 free Gala concert!
The Chisnallwood school orchestra is very fortunate to be part of the Christchurch High School’s Orchestra Festival for the first time!
There are three parts to the festival:
1. Rehearsal
Two Christchurch Symphony Orchestra members will attend our rehearsal this Friday and give some tips and initial feedback.
2. Performance and Workshop
Tuesday night, Sept 19th, our orchestra will perform an entire set of music at St Margaret’s School at 7pm followed by a workshop from 7.25-8.25pm. Our programme is: Mozart Sonata, Theme from Harry Potter, Amazing Grace with bagpipe feature, Pink Panther and Soul Bossa Nova.
3. Gala Concert
Wednesday night, Sept 20th, is the Gala concert at St Margaret’s College from 7.30-9.30pm where all the school orchestras taking part in the festival perform only one item each. This is a free concert and a great snapshot of high school orchestras. We encourage parents to attend. The programme is as follows:
Burnside Orchestra
Chch Girls’ & Boys’ High Strings
Chisnallwood Intermediate Orchestra
Burnside Junior Strings
Rangi Ruru Sinfonia
St Margaret’s College/Christ’s College Orchestra
Christchurch Girls’ & Boys’ High Orchestra
