From our students

On the 15 August, Ururangi 27, Kahikatea 3, the Chissy Ukulele Group Chissy recorder and the Chisnallwood Marimba group performed at Strum Strike Blow at Wolfbrook Arena

Strum Strike Blow is a music festival where ukuleles and marimbas and recorders from 57 schools from all over christchurch.

All 1500 student performers played the songs New Brighton, That’s Where the Pirates Go, Sandstorm, So True, Poipoia, Special Day. The marimbas performed Jamaican Money Man, Can-Can, amongst others. The recorders performed Journey into the Void, Memories, Go Easy Blues, and On a Stroll, all written by Mrs Bell!

Our favourites were Special Day, performed with the songwriter Michal Bush & the Can-Can.

The New Brighton pirates came to perform new Brighton, that’s where the pirates go!! They were fundraising money for the broken out of tune xylophone in New Brighton playground.. Before we performed the song we all put on pirate hats and eye patches to make us look like pirates!!! We put these on in the dark to surprise our audience.

Pandemonium is a percussion group that performed for the opening and closing performances of the night. Their opening performance was spectacular because the combined lights, water, and drums!

It was a super fun event and we will 100% do it again!
