On Monday the Irish and Jazz Bands played for U3A
“What is U3A?” you may ask. U3A stands for “University of the 3rd Age”. It’s a learning community organised by and for people who are in retirement. They met regularly and have interesting and informative guest speakers.
This week they heard from local composer Philip Norman. This was followed by a “posh afternoon tea” where Chisnallwood provided entertainment by our Irish band, Jazz Big Band and Jazz Combo. We were lucky to have guest fiddle player Jonathan Tanner play with our Irish band as our regular fiddle player was away. We included local celtic flavoured compositions by Phil Garland: Shiner’s Fancy and Shores of Lyttelton.
