Congratulations to our jazz band receiving a silver award in the high school’s JazzQuest event over the weekend.

It was fabulous to have the opportunity to enter our jazz bands in ARA’s JAZZQUEST event.

This event is for high schools, but we were lucky to be able to take part in both the combo section last term and the big band/ensemble section this term – and thrilled to received silver at both events! Well done to both bands!

It is inspiring to be able to perform at ARA Music Arts (previously CPIT jazz school) – the place where all the Christchurch  tertiary jazz studies take place and where our top jazz tutors are. It was also inspiring to be able to hear the high school bands and encouraging to get feedback from the experts.

The judge for the Big Band section was highly experienced drummer , Reuben Bradley.

• Blue Smoke August 27th 12.20pm  (Fundraiser concert featuring 8 bands!)
