Repercussion!

Written by Pieta Hextall

Last Sunday, our marimba group had the exciting opportunity to perform at Repercussion, an annual event that brings together percussion groups from across Christchurch. This fantastic showcase is always a highlight of the school year, and this year’s performance was no exception!

Our marimba group took to the stage with two lively pieces: The Can-Can and The Entertainer. Both performances were filled with energy and flair, complete with some fun surprises! In The Can-Can, the group brought the upbeat, rhythmic piece to life, while The Entertainer featured a unique twist—our very own car horn and bassoon, adding a playful touch to the classic tune. The bassoon, often referred to as the “clown of the orchestra,” certainly lived up to its reputation, bringing plenty of character and humor to the performance!

The event saw our students perform alongside other percussion groups from around Christchurch, creating a wonderful sense of community and collaboration. It was an incredible way to wrap up the year, celebrating the talent and hard work of young musicians across the city.

Repercussion provided the perfect opportunity to end the school year on a high note!
